Born in 1985, Erik Johansson is a photographer and visual artist from Sweden. Johansson creates surreal scenes depicting different aspects of time, location and life. Johansson says that his work only contains a complex array of his own photographs – there are no computer generated images used in any of his works. He also says that he produces, on average, around 6 new images a year excluding any comissions – This shows just how time consuming and complex these pieces are.
Above is one of my favourite pieces by Erik Johansson. Named “Full Moon Service”, it shows 2 individuals and a white work van in a field as they appear to perform maintenance on the full moon. The video shows the behind-the-scenes of the creation of this image. I particularly like this image due to it’s complexity and creativity – the idea itself is incredibly profound and the post production of this image is nothing short of astonishing.
Johansson has undertaken commissions for several high-profile companies, such as Microsoft, Adobe, Heineken and Toyota.
